First, will the characters you chose display as you expect them to on the client's browser? For example, in the 64K Apple version the vertical line (or "pipe") will actually display as a forward slash and lower-case letters will be converted to upper-case (this isn't Contiki's fault, it's just the way early Apple II's were made). Second, "PRE" tags are meaningless to Contiki, so you need to incorporate non-breaking spaces and line breaks into your ASCII art... and if you want it to display properly in most other browsers, you'll need to wrap the whole thing in "TT" tags in order to force a monospaced font. And remeber to avoid angle brackets and ampersands in your artwork!!! Third, size matters! Keep the window dimensions of your target platform in mind... remember that artwork that looks great in 80-columns can end up an unholy mess on a 40-column display, and of course if you take up too many lines with your masterpiece your Mona Lisa will get decapitated. And finally, consider placing your artwork/diagrams either at the very top of the page, or on a page of their own... it will make all the difference in the world! |
